Teams Meeting Recording Change on August 5, 2021

By

Microsoft has announced that as a multi-year effort, Microsoft Stream will be moving from a standalone product to a part of OneDrive and SharePoint. Simply put, Microsoft Stream is being phased out.  Although this change will be gradual and the current version of Stream will remain available for the near future, the first phase of this change will take place this Summer fall.

Beginning Thursday, August 5, Microsoft Teams meeting recordings will be stored in OneDrive (for private meetings) or SharePoint (for channel meetings) rather than in Microsoft Stream. However, just like today, meeting recordings will continue to display in the meeting chat for easy access as well as be shared with all meeting attendees automatically.

OIT will provide updated instructions on Microsoft Stream as we near the August 5 cutover.

Training from OIT will be available for the new meeting recording location on either August 3 or August 6. To register for these trainings, please visit our Office 365 training page.

For faculty, additional information, instructions, and training for class Teams and teaching for the fall semester will be forthcoming over the next month.

If you have questions about this change, please contact the OIT Help Desk.
