Now Available: Contact the OIT Help Desk via Apple Messages

By

The Office of Information Technology is excited to announce a new way to contact the OIT Help Desk: Apple Messages! The service started with a soft launch earlier this semester and is now available to all students, faculty and staff for IT support needs.

Apple Messages is an extension of OIT’s popular live chat service, which the UTD Community has used over 15,000 times since its re-launch in September 2020. It allows our customers to chat directly with a member of the OIT Help Desk team from 7am-11pm 7 days a week for assistance with technology issues or requests. The live chat service, including Apple Messages, is powered by Amazon Connect.

To contact the OIT Help Desk via Apple Messages, simply visit the OIT website from an Apple device (iOS and iPadOS 13 or later, macOS 10.13.4 or later) and click the Apple Messages button. The button will only appear when visiting from a compatible device. After your first-time using Apple Message, OIT will appear in your Messages application, and you can contact us without having to go back to our website.

OIT is continuing to identify new ways to support our campus community, and we are committing to making it as easy as possible to get assistance. We encourage customers to contact us via live chat or phone, or submit a ticket via the Service Catalog, as these are the fastest ways to get answers to your technology questions. Email support remains available, but generally sees the slowest time to resolution and may be worked by multiple Help Desk agents.

We look forward to serving you!
