UT Dallas External Phone Calls

OIT is aware of an issue affecting some external calls to the University to be disconnected and is working with Microsoft for a solution. Calls to our Service Desk are functioning normally. We will provide additional details as they become available.

New NetID System

The University of Texas at Dallas (UTD) is enhancing its Identity Data Management (NetID) system by transitioning to a comprehensive enterprise-level solution. The New NetID System solution contributes to better security, streamlined access, and efficient internal processes.

Implementing a New NetID System further reinforces UTD’s Tier 1 status. The expected project completion is July 2024.

Benefits

Adapting to Industry Trends

The IGA Program can leverage new IDM industry trends through the New NetID System.

Efficiency in Resource Management

It can reduce the time spent by OIT and Federated IT resources on manual management of security groups.

Simplifying AD Management

The system can decrease the time OIT resources spend on manual Active Directory (AD) management tasks.

Improving Technology Experience and Innovation

It can lessen the time OIT Technology Experience and Innovation resources spends on issues related to self-service password resets.

Leveraging Cloud-Based Strategies

The system can cut down the time OIT Infrastructure resources spends on manual maintenance of supported infrastructure by utilizing cloud-based deployment and maintenance strategies.

Rapid Access Automation

New NetID System can improve day-one access onboarding and timely offboarding by using robust access request and approval workflows, in combination with direct connectors to a broad range of industry-standard applications currently deployed at UTD, such as PeopleSoft, OnBase, Blackboard, etc.

Access Certification Capabilities

The New NetID system provides tools to view granular access of accounts across connected applications periodically and during account compromise events, enhancing the ability of UTD security entities to monitor, respond to issues, and minimize potential data and other losses.

Audit Capabilities

New NetID System provides tools to log identity events, protect and tamper-resist audit logs, maintain historical data, and implement separation of duties (SOD) policies for application and IT resource access.

Supporting Student Success

The New NetID System can bring automation improvements to various aspects of student access, including applicants, admitted students, enrolled students, lab access, Orion system access, eLearning access, digital content access, SafetySkills access, class team access for enrolled classes each semester, summer camps student access, and former students access.
