UT Dallas External Phone Calls

OIT is aware of an issue affecting some external calls to the University to be disconnected and is working with Microsoft for a solution. Calls to our Service Desk are functioning normally. We will provide additional details as they become available.

The TechKnowledgy Bar is a space located in the Student Union for UT Dallas students, faculty, and staff to learn about technology at UT Dallas, including getting a first-hand look at new projects and initiatives from OIT and our partners. Knowledgeable staff from the OIT Service Desk are on hand to resolve issues with OIT services and personal devices.

Personal device support at the TechKnowledgy Bar is limited to basic software support, including installation of supported UTD Software and OS updates. Hardware support is not available at the TechKnowledgy Bar at this time. If you need assistance with personal hardware, contact the UTD Tech Store or your computer’s manufacturer for assistance.

New to UT Dallas and want to be set up for success? This service will walk you through all the UTD resources you need and check your computer for updates – ensuring you can learn safely!

Average Completion Time: 30-45 minutes (timing may vary based on computer speed)

Included components:

  • NetID & NetIDplus Setup
  • CometNet Connection
  • Computer and Browser Updates
  • Security Check
  • Office 365 Setup, including Microsoft Teams
  • Data Backup Setup
  • Mobile Email Setup
  • Other Available Software Installation

This service is available for personal hardware only (not UTD computers).

Update Check

Has it been a while since you’ve installed your software updates? Ensure you are running the latest version of your operating system, browser, and hardware drivers with this service.

Average Completion Time: 15-20 minutes (timing may vary based on computer speed)

Included Components:

  • Operating System Updates
  • Browser Updates
  • Driver Updates
  • Office Updates

This service is available for personal hardware only (not UTD computers).

Remote Work/Learn Setup

Planning to work or learn on your computer remotely? This service will get you all set to access the needed UT Dallas resources to be productive on the go.

Average Completion Time: 20-30 minutes

Included Components:

  • VPN Setup (including NetIDplus/Duo if necessary)
  • OIT Remote Lab Information
  • SSH Setup (if needed)
  • OneDrive Setup
  • eduroam setup (if needed)

This service is available for personal or UTD owned hardware.
