OIT is aware of an issue affecting some external calls to the University to be disconnected and is working with Microsoft for a solution. Calls to our Service Desk are functioning normally. We will provide additional details as they become available.

About Enhanced Enterprise Reporting

The objectives of the initiative are:

  • To improve the ability of UTD employees to obtain the information they need to effectuate daily operations and to make decisions affecting UTD’s future.
  • To do so in an “additive” way – a way that does not replicate or conflict with already available mechanisms for obtaining information (e.g., user’s already existing reporting capability, OSPA,…).

How to Submit a Work Request Ticket

All requests for modifications, changes to existing processes, or data feeds should be initiated with a JIRA Work Request Ticket. Upon submission of the ticket, the customer(s) will be contacted by an OIT staff member. The approval process for requests includes review and prioritization by the Digital Transformation Group.

Services

Services that are being established or are planned include:

  • Increasing the use of existing, already available information assets:
  • Augmenting the ability of data owners to document/communicate/explain the data assets they already have so the assets can be used more widely.
  • Augmenting the ability of data owners to actually make existing information assets more available for use by e.g., providing report generation scheduling capability to automatically create reports and data storage capacity to store them for wider use.
  • Creating and maintaining a “report catalog” that provides descriptions of available reports/extracts.
  • Serving as a “reference center” for UTD’s information assets that can refer people to available sources of information and connect data users with data owners to answer questions and address data issues.
  • Helping information owners and suppliers use UTD’s information assets in new ways.
  • Creating, operating, and maintaining new reporting/analysis capabilities that deliver new information to users in response to user’s request to create such capabilities.
  • Providing information directly to users in response to user’s request for that information.

Information Catalog Service

Provide the faculty and staff with an annually updated “information catalog” listing the information/reports/extracts available for their use. 

Operational Reporting Requirements and Consulting Service

Contact faculty and staff annually to identify currently unmet reporting/analysis needs so that they might be addressed, especially in the area of a) improving student outcomes, and b) reducing student’s higher education cost. 

Provide the staff with operational level reporting consulting on an as needed basis.

Reporting Capability Development Service

Develop new reporting/analysis capabilities that address currently unmet and future challenge needs by: 

Doing research and analysis necessary for capability creation. 

Designing, building, and testing the capability.

Either: Turning the capability over the requestor to run, or

Running and supporting it on an on-going basis.
