The headsets available currently for the Work from Home effort are Teams compatible and will become your headset when we migrate your division / college to Teams Telephony.

1. Submit a Request

To request a headset, please submit a request to the Help Desk using the button below. When the request is submitted, we will provide headsets based upon what is available. Personal choice is not an option at this time.
Submit Request

When submitting the request, be sure to include the following information:

  1. Purpose of the request
  2. Number of headsets requested, if submitting for a Team vs. individual
  3. Urgency of the request

Order Note:

OIT will communicate with you when device(s) are ready for pick up. Availability is limited so priority will be placed on mission critical business needs.

Administrative Continuity:

Please refer to the Administrative Continuity page for how to address other computing equipment needs that will enable you to work remotely.

2. Pickup the Headset(s)

The UTD Police Department will distribute the headsets. Once you receive an Atlas notification that the device(s) are available for pickup, you can retrieve them from the Police Department building. They are located at the northeast corner of campus. The hours of operations are 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday-Friday.

Pickup Note:

Please have your UTD Comet Card or Driver’s License for identification purposes. You will also need to show your Atlas resolution notification that indicates your device is ready for pick up.

Other Recommendations

(if unable to wait for OIT provided device)
The Office of Information Technology recommends submitting a ticket request for a headset through Atlas. If you are unable to submit a request, OIT has provided a list of recommendations for purchasing your own headset. The following recommendations are provided in order of preference.

  1. Purchase headset(s) individually using the list of supported devices provided below.
  2. Purchase a Microsoft Teams supported device if you are unable to find one of the supported devices from the list of supported devices below.
  3. Use your cell phone, with the Microsoft Teams client, and purchase headphones that are compatible with your cell phone.
  4. Purchase a Skype supported headset as the last and only option.

With the world moving to work-from-home at an unprecedented pace, headset manufactures are having a difficult time keeping up so you may find that the device of your choice is unavailable or on back order with significant shipping delays.
